World Mobile Congress is one of the world's leading events for those of us interested in mobility. Held in Barcelona it attracts more than 60,000 visitors annually - with this year no exception - there were so many WiFi access points running together in the exhibition floor that it has been close to impossible to get through that RF confusion to get to the Internet. Photo of the main entrance below.
Insiders talk about the event as being 50% plumbing (base stations, towers, backhaul etc) and 50% revenue driving - and this year for sure its all about Apps, and the BTC team is here at WMC to experience the event first hand.
The big announcements on the hardware side have been new handsets from LG (first quad core Android handsets) and Samsung - Galaxy Note Tablet (I'm still not totally won over on the "phablet" market so lets see if this form factor get more positive comments). Check out the status made entirely of LG Android phones below.
And in software, Microsoft has had a strong presence here (including letting us "outsiders" in to their special drinks function :) - with a contest that set Windows Phone against Android and iOS in a "speed to perform a specific task test - with (no surprise) the Windows Phone coming out on top in most test - could be something to do with a skilled operator as much as OS efficiency in one's opinion.
The BTC team is here on the Apperian Booth - Apperian is here showing the EASE platform and has launched their new website. Check it out

More insights to come here at the end of the show.
