Apple Q1 2012 results amazing - what does it mean for Enterprise

Whilst there were many great "one liners" from Apple's Q1 2012 earnings conf call including

CNET saying "Apple makes more iPhones than humans make babies"

Appleinsider saying "Apple makes more iPads than HP makes computers"

However probably the more interesting story was the research published by Good Technology reporting (PDF here) that about that iPad takes 96% of tablets, and iPhone 53% of phones.

That level of domination in Enterprise continues to position the iPad well for continuing growth in 2012....

BTC Opens Regional Office for Asia in Singapore

BTC is pleased to announce that we have officially opened our Regional office for Asia in Singapore. Co-insiding with the Chinese New Year celebrations, BTC have announced that Mr Daniel Wong has joined the team as Regional Manager and will be building a team to grow the enterprise mobility business for BTC in Asia out of Singapore.

Daniel has over 15 years experience as a leader in IT with strong proven abilities in developing new markets including his time as Channel Account Manager, SEA at McAfee, Regional Sales Director at Telco Systems and Regional Channel/Business Development, SEA at Alcatel.

BTC's office is located in downtown Singapore at International Plaza.

We are looking forward to great things happening in Asia as enterprise mobility continues to rollout.

Should CIOs worry about personal file sharing site shutdowns?

With the recent shutdown of Megaupload, the question for CIOs and IT managers is "Will that have an impact on the ability of other general purpose file sharing platforms like Dropbox".

With the rapid adoption of mobile technology and the resulting need to deliver a range of content to those devices, general purpose file sharing sites have been often used as a temporary solution to this problem, but now with the added pressure from content owners being applied, is there a risk that the other sharing sites will suffer short term or permanent shutdowns?

There are many references to this on the Internet now, and whilst its certainly not something that is a certainty, it will be important for IT managers and CIOs to keep this in mind when planning their content management solution. Even worse for those planning IT deployments, the "personal" nature of those file sharing sites, leads to the possibility of workers placing copyrighted or illegally obtained materials in those services and then syncing that content to their mobile device.

The impact of potential illegal use is one of the factors that drove BTC to create a system for managing content where the organisation itself takes a more prominent role. With BTCDashboard the IT team can play an active part in managing content and ensuring that only recommended and approved materials are distributed - even going as far as disabling the personal MyChannel for users on the system.

BTCDashboard Jailbreak Detection

For many enterprise and government users deploying iOS one of the underlying concerns is over the security of corporate information, files and other data stored on the device.

BTCDashboard has been designed to help IT teams with deploying this content into a secure container on the iOS device, however one question we are often asked is about how we can provide secure access when there is a possibility that a user could jailbreak their iOS device.

BTCDashboard Jailbreak test

Being introduced into BTCDashboard is the integrated jailbreak test. This test performed automatically by the application checks for jailbreak and if detected removes all content from the Dashboard and stops the app from working - presenting an alert to the user, and notifying the systems manager.

2012 is now upon us and as we go out and talk to enterprise and government users about the issues facing them in 2012, we constantly get told that there are few trusted places for them to turn to get access to the latest information about the enterprise mobility market.

To help to meet that need BigTinCan is pleased to announce that we are hosting an event that we hope will provide valuable information about how to move through the mobility jigsaw in 2012.

The event is called the "BTCMobilty Forum 2012" and is taking place at the Swissotel Sydney on 21st February.

Apple to grow 50% in enterprise sales in 2012

What does this mean in the real world?

Appleinsider reports on a new study by Global Tech Market Outlook talks about a massive increase (from an already all time high) on enterprise spending on Apple products.

Its pretty clear that Apple is winning in the enterprise with iOS - and this has a great potential to extend to Mac OS as corporations and governments worldwide open their traditionally closed doors to "bring your own device" - extended to computers as well as mobile devices.

The question will be how that translates to corporations deepening their understanding of the tools required to make this transition.

Lets see how this plays out in 2012.

With 2012 upon us we think its about time to revisit the Blogosphere and start to use the Blog for what its always been intended for - longer stories with more insight and more sharing of real meaningful information - like this post ;).

Nokia and Microsoft partnership a boon for developers

The web is ablaze with news of that Nokia will abandon its Symbian platform and move to making the hardware that will run Microsoft Windows Phone 7.

Many including this author have an opinion about whether that decision makes sense for Nokia, but there is one thing for certain. Its a boon for the mobile development community.

Windows Mobile 7 certainly has a distinctive look and feel and has the potential to be something that could turn todays three horse race into a field of four - and that is also good news for developers.

Look for developers like BigTinCan to create new applications and services on Windows Phone 7 (and its likely new versions) that will create possible new dimensions on User Interface design that could then be taken back and used in iOS, Android and BlackBerry.

For developers who had been working on Symbian its a wake up call to move up and get into the real smartphone development community and for the old school smartphone developers its an indication that we need to get serious about Windows again. Corporate customers remain committed to the Windows platform, and this announcement will give the IT teams some teeth in arguing about the choice of mobile platforms.

BlackBerry DevCon Asia 2011

BlackBerry DevConAsia 2011

The BigTinCan team was fortunate to be able to attend this exciting event in Bali Indonesia. The first time DevCon has been held in Asia. There were four of our team at the event and we all managed to make the most of the sessions and were able to get into the middle of the happenings on BlackBerry.

The keynote on the first day was great, and we tried our first "tweetstream" focusing on the new announcements made at the keynote - and I can say that the experience of having to keep typing and telling people the updates was something really compelling almost addictive.

Big news at the event was the announcement of BlackBerry OS 6.1 APIs including geofencing tools (neat) and lots of new developments on WebWorks - with the announcement of WebWorks coming to the BlackBerry Playbook tablet.

The Playbook is an exciting device, however there has been a question in the mind of many developers about how they were going to get their arms around developing in AIR and Flash, when many developers come from a Java or C based development environment.

Adding WebWorks on the Playbook is taking things more down the path of the kind of development that many in the community are comfortable with.

Using the Playbook

DevCon gave us the first opportunity to use the Playbook and we can say that it certainly is something compelling. The use of the bezel to control the device was refreshing - interestingly on the first day of DevCon, there was a leaked story on BGR that Apple was considering removing its "button" with the view to move to multi touch gestures to replace its use on iPad and iPhone.

Until we get a device its hard to know how "complete" the Playbook is - we couldn't find a "settings" panel on the demo unit we used to see how much is implemented yet - and how it will perform in the real world- were all those battery issue rumors true? We weren't able to get answers to those questions t DevCon, but we are planning on submitting apps to AppWorld for Playbook and hope to be able to get answers as soon as we get units to use.

Sessions

It was good for our team to be able to catch up with the latest, and great to see so many Canadian presenters - RIM made a big commitment to the event. Hands on labs were especially good.

Whats Next

RIM certainly seems committed to Asia - even to the point of making changes in how their systems work for counties like Indonesia where the govt is requesting access to BIS - but probably these changes are vital for RIM in this ever growning market - the opportunity for tens of millions of more unit sales here is real and we hope to be there with RIM as they execute on this opportunity.

For BigTinCan its back to Sydney to work on some more exciting projects. Looking forward to a great 2011.

Top 5 reasons why iPad Magazines aren't working

It is with great interest that I read a story on AppleInsider.com titled After initial success, magazine purchases on Apple iPad decline - talking about how magazines on iPad haven't achieved the success that was predicted for them.

With the global magazine industry threatened by visions of the print versions of their magazines going the way of the dodo, the magazine community has spent significant dollars on creating amazing, rich media digital magazines on iPad. One only has to open Wired's iPad app to see how much work has been put into the iPad version and Richard Branson's Project iPad app went even further with integration of video and amazing interactive advertising and yet it also seemingly has suffered from a lack of take up from the iPad user.

Its has been said in the boardroom of many a magazine publisher that perhaps this investment has been made "too early", or has been a wasted chance to build the magazine's brand on a smartphone type device.

Why?

Could it be that the technophiles behind the creation of these apps have let the tech run away with the fundamental premise of how users want to consume magazine style content.

It didn't take much time with a range of these apps to write down 5 fundamental issues with the way these apps work that are kind of obvious to any magazine subscriber.

Issue 1

Downloading of content - unlike the magazine that you purchase at your local news stand or have home delivered, these apps require you to initially download a "shell" that is then used to allow you to download magazine issues.

For many an iPad user the time it takes to download the hundreds of megabytes of data is a significant impediment to viewing the magazine. That together with the way people use the iPad - which is a kind of "information grazing" approach with one app being open, then closed to do something else, then back to the first app - means that often the user will not get a chance to download their first edition of the magazine for many hours and forces users to leave the device with the app open overnight. Not an ideal way to quickly consume magazine style content.

Issue 2

More is not more. To a fault the iPad magazine tries hard to include as much "eye candy" as possible to (in the mind of the developers) create a new compelling experience on device. What this often does is simply takes away for the quality of the article or photograph that has been carefully crafted for the paper based magazine.

Developers need to understand that old publishers saying "less is more" - as otherwise they risk overwhelming the user and making the app boring and a simple showcase of iPad graphic capabilities - to create return readers its the content that rules, not the iPad graphics.

Too many choices and too much eye candy take the reader away from the content

Issue 3

Advertising. Where is the value? By moving the iPad magazine away from a traditional "Front to back reading" approach to a "go anywhere anytime" the iPad magazine has removed the ability of the publisher to charge a differentiated fee for advertising by its placement within the publication. Advertising and per download fees will both be required in the future to create a viable commercial structure for iPad (and other table) versions. App developers need to go back to basics to create a way of allowing publishers to monitise content in more traditional ways.

Issue 4

The good old double page spread. We have yet to see any examples of iPad magazines creating a concept as powerful as the double page spread. Advertisers love creating special content and readers find the spread something that catches the eye and makes one "linger" on it.

Issue 5

Give aways and bundles. Where are the "free tote bags" or "free CDs" that have been a successful mechanism for driving news stand purchases? Consumers need constant reminding and encouragement to purchase these magazines again and again. Traditional marketing works. App developers just need to implement a way of offering a similar structure for their users in the digital age.

Overall I think that magazine publishers and users are still very excited about the use of the iPad (and other tablets) as tools for delivering content. These first few versions of the iPad magazine have been great pointers to what works and what doesn't work for the mass market of users out there who are thinking of spending their hard earned money on this new way of getting the content that they value in a way they want to consume it.

Its Christmas time and the team at BigTinCan is pleased to bring you an exciting new app for the iPhone and BlackBerry - Jessica Simpson's Happy Christmas.

When Jessica Simpson released her new album Happy Christmas - and we found out that it is only available for people living in North America - we felt knew that people all around the world would love to be able to hear her music, and get access to special content from Jessica's TV Special that aired last weekend in the USA - and we believed that the power of the smartphone would be the idea answer to getting fans access to this exciting and unique content - just in time for Christmas.

We received some great news this week - BigTinCan has made it into the Semi-Finals of the 2010 BlackBerry Partners Fund Super Apps Developer Challenge.

This is a great result for us and shows what can be done with some great care and effort for the development of a world class smartphone app - and it's great to have the support of our users in doing that!

USA Trip comes to a close

With one team member already home, and the rest about to leave San Francisco for Los Angeles and then onto Sydney, this has been not only a productive trip, but an unforgettable experience.

A week at BlackBerry DevCon2010 in San Francisco was truly a great learning experience for all of the team as well as a fantastic opportunity to meet and connect with other developers and businesses who work in and around the BlackBerry platform. The obvious highlight of the week was the announcement of the new BlackBerry tablet, the 'BlackBerry PlayBook'!

After the productive week in San Francisco, the BTC team spend a few days out in Silicon Valley. With a few meetings and some R&R, including seeing 'The Social Network' in Mountain View...along with what seemed to be half of Stanford University.

Everyone at BigTinCan is looking forward to returning to Sydney and getting back into work. Keep a look out for the exciting new products and ideas that are just around the corner!

BlackBerry Announces 'PlayBook' Tablet at DevCon

San Fransisco, September 27th, 2010

The BigTinCan team were present at BlackBerry DevCon2010 today where RIM Co-CEO Mike Laziridis announced the BlackBerry 'PlayBook' ultra-thin tablet. This 7 inch tablet was announced with the tag line "Everyone needs a great PlayBook". We've been told by RIM that the device, which features True HD video, true multitasking, dual core processors and HDMI out will be released early in 2011.

When asked to comment on the 3G/4G capabilities, Mike Laziridis wouldn't comment but was heard to say "You do the math".

The BigTinCan team is about to attend the first developer session at DevCon2010 which will feature the new tablet OS, and will keep you posted during the week as we get more information.

The First session at the BlackBerry DevCon 2010 is all about Free vs Paid apps. And whilst listening to the leaned speakers telling us that "having a free app helps you get you more downloads than just a paid apps" - I was thinking "What is the future for the freemium model?".

We have successfully operated a "freemium" service with our BuzzMe Product since April 2009 - and its worked quite well for us - and for our users, but it that what people really want? The commercial alternative seems to be to introduce advertising into the apps, but I personally dont really like apps that include lots of ads - unless there is a real benefit to me and my use of the device - which most apps are just not able to provide.

What about a model where (a bit like what Pandora has done to the music market) where users pay a regular monthly fee to download any number of utility style apps - now that is something that I as a user might actually pay for - and that is also something that could reward developers for their work.

Challenge there is that might provide a way for developers to make a "hobby living" but can it create sustainable businesses? I doubt it.

For developers to grow to scale and create real value in their companies there needs to be a service that users are willing to pay regularly for in a way that the service actually either a) gives them a real cost saving over other commercial alteratives, or b) provides them with a lifestyle benefit that is worth paying for.

We have some ideas about this - but how about you? We would love to hear your comments

BigTinCan in San Francisco

So its DEVCON time again, and we are in San Francisco (well today in University Ave, Palo Alto).

Its going to be a great ride with lots of news about new BlackBerry products already in the rumour mill - check out this story on Engadget reported initially on the WSJ.

Its also a great chance for me to "eat my own cooking" , as I am using all the features of BigTinCan Connect this trip. So far so good.

What I have done is forwarded my Aussie mobile number to a BTC inbound number in Australia and then pointed that number at my ATT prepaid SIM card (that is not sitting nicely in either my Bold 9700 or iPhone - depending on what apps I want to run;). So people at home can call my mobile and it will ring here in the USA - but even better I have created a time of day rule that means that people who call me outside of normal hours here in the West Coast will just get sent to a voice mail - which is then sent to my email.

Then from my ATT SIM I have setup BigTinCan Connect to add this number as my callback number - so now when I call Australia I am calling at US domestic incoming rates. Pretty cool huh! Oh and it shows my Australian mobile number as the caller ID when I call someone in Aus - so they know its me!

COST?

I purchased a $25 pre paid credit pack for my SIM here.

I then used $4.99 of that credit to purchase a 1Mb data pack - to send the call requests to the BTC server.

And now I've got $20 left over for the minutes - which actually gives me plenty of minutes for the calls.

Compared with roaming charges this is going to save me I think hundreds of dollars!

I will post back here on my experiences with the US cell phone network - but for now its working great!

BlackBerry DevCon 2010

Last year's DevCon was a blast, and a great opportunity to learn about the future of BlackBerry as well as doing some great networking - so this year we are going back to DevCon - September 27-29 at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis for more.

Its interesting to see that an event normally in November has been scheduled to end September. What is RIM trying to say ? Focus on OS6? "Blackpad" introduction? new devices? maybe all of those.

We will be blogging and tweeting from the event - so if there are things that you would particularly like to hear about just post it here.

Great review of BigTinCan Connect on Gizmodo

Our friends at Gizmodo have published a great review of BigTinCan Connect.

Its going to be very interesting to see how the market in Australia begins to adopt the idea of getting a fixed line replacement from a mobile oriented service like Connect.

Whenever I talk to people about their telecom needs there is this constant bitching about the fixed line, its cost, and mostly its inflexibility.

People need mobility - they love their mobile phone, but they also want to have a traditional landline phone number. They can do that by paying Telstra or their local carrier $40 a month just to receive a few calls - and then they are stuck when they move - its not that easy to relocate a land line.

Not only that, sure you can forward your calls from the landline to the mobile, but then you are paying the huge cost of diversions to mobiles and you get absolutely no control of who get diverted, who doesn't and if you wanted any more advanced call rules your out of luck.

What we think services like Connect will do is to really free the millions of people around the world who have had enough of landlines prices and services, but still want to have a landline - and let them manage who gets diverted to where, when and more.

There are also many people who we talk to who are using Connect as a "front end" to their mobile - so they only give out their Connect number but map that to their mobile - this means they can change their mobile number anytime they want to without having to tell their friends and business partners of a number change.

Oh, and services like Connect save you money on outgoing calls too.

BuzzMe Premium has just hit the App World and is already making an impact. We woke this morning to find that on App World UK its already hit No 19 - within 24 hours!

And we have had a few really good reviews including this one by AppBoy

So its off to a good start, but now we are thinking about what to add to the next version :)

We have had a good post on our forum and the suggestion is to add

1. An option to have the LED blink for a period of time for the plugins.
2. Plugins for IM+/IM+ lite
3. Plugins for Windows Live Messenger

Pretty good and doable idea.

We are currently experiencing a temporary outage that will affect customers on our Connect Service in Australia and some parts of the USA.

We apologise for this outage - our engineers are currently working on re-routing the traffic and will have that rectified shortly - I will post back here when things are working again.

We are also (unfortunately at the same time) doing some work on maps.bigtincan.com and tidymystreet.com - we expect these sites to resume normal operation shortly.

When ever I talk to people in the telco industry and talk about BigTinCan and what we are doing with our iPhone app, people are always asking "but how do you get Apple to approve it? Apple hates competitive telco apps right?".....well my answer has to be a resounding NO - Apple seems to be very supportive of new innovative telco apps

We have just partnered with GlobalTel a major Florida based telco, who is a global leader in "call back" services. We have jointly created a new iPhone app that uses the GlobalTel backend to allow their customers to use the iPhone to make calls (read save money). Its simply called "GlobalTel" and is available on the AppStore now (AppStore Link)

Once we completed the development, we submitted to Apple - in fact it was just before Christmas. We had an email back from Apple requesting a small (very minor and not really relevant to this) issue - we made the change, resubmitted, and then the app was approved only a few days later.

What can we say, from our repeated experience, Apple is a friend to innovative developers who are interested in helping the smartphone community through telco apps.

And now into 2010 - we see even more opportunity to work with Apple on new ideas.

Get an Aussie Phone Number that you can really control

Well its supposed to be the Christmas holidays - and everybody is off work ? we'll we cant keep our team from implementing new things, and we are now pleased to annouce that we have released our incoming call control system and are launching it with Australian phone numbers at only $5.99 a month including unlimited voicemail and complete call control

You can now set "rules" for incoming phone calls in the same way that you can do for emails - you can decide who can call you at what time of day and from what phone number (callerID) - you can even create multiple voicemail profiles that play different messages, and best of all (i think) is we even have a "private callerID rule" that means that when you get called by a private callerID phone number - the system can ask the caller for a PIN - if the PIN is entered correctly the call is connected to your mobile (or office) phone - but if its entered incorrectly the call is sent to a voicemail system and that voicemail is emailed directly to you.

We think this is a really cool way of managing your calls, but its only one of the powerful things you can do with our incoming phone number service.

Who says Apple makes it hard to get telco apps approved!

Lots of bloggers talk about the challenges in getting their telco style apps approved - it was big news Q3 2009.

As a provider of a telco app for the iPhone, shipping since mid 2009, we have been through the process of getting our app firstly accepted and then delivering a number of updates.

The big news is that it looks like Apple is getting serious about their commitment to helping developers get their apps to market quickly - and is even extending this to the Telco apps market.

We had an amazing experience with Apple this past week.

We have been hard at work on our new WebCan V2.0 system and had released the web version only early December 2009. To make our iPhone app compatible with the new backend we needed to release a new version - and we really were fearful that it would take a lot of work to get it approved.

Well to our surprise the approval process for our update - which contains a lot of fantastic new features - took all of 5 working days! We were ecstatic to be able to get the update out to our users before Christmas.

And we learn that on the same day Apple has also approved the Ribbit App - that provides some of the same features as BigTinCan Connect (just at $30 a month!) anyway it really shows that the telco market on the iPhone is starting to get serious.

We think that this is all a preview to the VoIP over 3G market that will be significant in 2H2010. We are very much looking forward to releasing our solution for that market.

Its going to be a great year in 2010 for a whole range of smartphone apps that offer telco cost savings and most importantly productivity gains.

GetMusic and MyWorldTour Launched on AppWorld Australia

We are pleased to announce that GetMusic and MyWorldTour are now available on the BlackBerry AppWorld. These are two very exciting BlackBerry applications that we build for Universal Music and RIM. They are a different way of looking at music and music related events on a smartphone platform

Give them a try (or you do need to be in Australia to get them as they are designed for use in Australia only at this stage) and you can see that they are not just your normal "buy a song and download it" app - they are about the whole music environment and how you can find out about the latest tours, new music, charts and then the music genre that you like!

Well it seems like only yesterday that we were updating our website. And guess what we felt that we still needed to make our site even better and to show what we do in an even simpler way.

With the launch of WebCan v2.0 (and we would love to try it free - click here to try) we have made great steps forward in the development of the calling and messaging services. The new site is designed to make that even more prominent and easy to understand.

Today we are "soft launching" - well that's what we call it ;) - WebCan v2.0

WebCan is our web interface for the BigTinCan Calls and Messages Service - BigTinCan Connect

We have been working very hard (you know who you are) and have made this something that we are all very proud of here. Its a new, fresh interface that makes using Connect easy and fun.

You can now add incoming phone numbers in over 40 countries worldwide, and we have significantly improved the interface for making international phone calls and sending SMS and MMS messages.

Plus we have made huge changes to the system for how we handle MyFiles so you can store your content online and send and resent to anybody worldwide.

We would love any feedback on this softlaunch and we hope to have the system in full production before Christmas.

BuzzMe - Great stuff coming

We are well into the process of creating a new version of BuzzMe and BuzzMe Pro.

Its been a real challenge trying to think about what to add in and what is not really that important to everybody.

What we have tried to do in use our new BOPA structure to create a new way of using BuzzMe that is more flexible than anything that has been in the market before. So look out for this! We think you will love it.

Another interesting development is how we can use some of the exiting new tools of AppWorld to make the experience of having the app even better - and yeah, before you say it - we do know about the AppWorld (ongoing) update issues - they assure us that they will fix it "real soon" - but even given that, we know that there are some very powerful features in AppWorld that we can use to make it easier for you.

And we would love to have you post here for anything that you would like in the new BuzzMe - we are open to ideas! no matter how crazy you think it might be!

VoIP over 3G - finally?

With Google's acquisition of Gizmo5 are we ready to enter the world of VoIP over 3G? Well certainly it would offer great benefits to users in terms of cheaper calls, more powerful features and flexibility

But the question is - are the current 3G networks ready for VoIP! can they deliver the consistently low latency and throughput and constant signal to allow people to move to VoIP over 3G?

We have been running VoIP over 3G on the Android platform for months here in Australia and we can tell you that given a good network connection it works great.

However during our recent trip to San Francisco we really feel that the networks in the USA are not ready for any mass deployment. We found high latency, and signal drops that would cause havoc for VoIP calls.

We then posted a question on our Twitter feed and asked people whether they felt the networks were ready for VoIP over 3G and the feedback we got was NO WAY!

Users do not believe that their carriers are ready in most countries worldwide.

So does that mean VoIP over 3G is a 2011 technology?

Probably not - with the right circumstances, and the continued proliferation of WiFi in major cities, adding VoIP options to callback services like our BigTinCan Connect will make a lot of sense and help people to save lots of money and be more productive. So we can say that we are throwing our hat into the ring for VoIP over 3G integrated to BTC Connect. Look for that early 2010.

BlackBerry Dev Con Results

Well the conference is over for 2009 - and we must say that it was a fantastic event. We are now back home trying to digest the key things and how we can implement them.

BlackBerry Flow - we think that is the key marketing message and key development philosophy that will pervade development on the BlackBerry platform into 2010.

Well, its kind of interesting that we launched our BOPA strategy at the same time that RIM introduce BlackBerry Flow - it shows that anybody thinking about development and customer benefit on BlackBerry is working towards the same principles.

The question now is what to do next: - we think its all about integrating telco services that overlay ontop of the existing carrier networks

We have some great plans for that, and hope to be able to keep you all informed as we develop those plans for 2010

Wow its kind of hard to believe but when we looked at the stats for downloads for yesterday we found that we had over 27,000 downloads of our range of apps across iPhone, BlackBerry and Android apps - I just wanted to thank everybody for taking your valuable time to try our products.

We are constantly trying to update and improve what we do and we have some really great plans for our range of services for 2010 - and we hope to incorprate in a number of features that you have been asking for.

A good example is things like the Missed Call Reminder, and MyColor in BuzzMe which came directly from your input.

Today at the BlackBerry Dev Con we launched BOPA - BuzzMe OPEN Plugin Architecture - this is an exciting development that allows 3rd parties access to BuzzMe and the ability to control alerting using all the features of BuzzMe v3.0 planned for early next year

we are just about to publish our new website - its been designed to allow us to show people all the interesting things that we do in only a few seconds - its hard to communicate all the stuff that we do in simple way - so we have put together what we think will work

its a work in progress though and we are planning lots of changes already - even before we put it up

but thanks for your patience with our old site - we think the new site will be a breath of fresh air for everybody

very interesting day at the Dev Con - big announcements about extra tools and APIs for developers to use - a very interesting API set called Locate that will add easy to use call tower based location services - not as accurate as GPS but low battery use and it works inside - yeah!

We have had a Facebook page for a while which has always been a great place for us to share info and news about what we are dong - well this Blog is going to be a compliment for that. So we will do our best to update both the Blog and Facebook sites ! we would love to know which one you prefer?
